The Scary Truth Of Too Much Screen Time

EVEN THOUGH TECHNOLOGY HAS IMPROVED OUR LIVES IN PROFOUND WAYS…

It has also destroyed our ability to focus and concentrate on what matters most. So, with no end in sight for adrenaline-pumping video games or the engrossing immediacy of social media, what will the impact of technology be on today’s population, particularly our youth? Will such rampant use of technology bring about unforeseen consequences in the future? Will technology eventually control our every thought and decision? Will it become our identity?

If you or your teenager has become dependent on technology, these thoughts have probably entered your mind. But how can you know if you’re headed for trouble?

Can supplements help your unfocused or anxious thoughts?

So do you really  need medication to help your unfocused, anxious,  overwhelmed or sad thoughts?  Maybe not.  Dr. Amen founder of the  Amen Clinics, believes in “First Do No Harm” and as one of his Brain Certified Health Coaches, I feel the same.

There are certain neurotransmitters (chemicals in our brain), that control our emotions and thoughts.  We have roughly 60+ neurotransmitters, however there are only a handful that you should keep in mind and some are made in your gu!.  So does a can of mountain dew impact your thinking?  It certainly does and it leads to stinken thinken!

Here’s the low down on the ones that are most important and the ones you should know about

Serotonin – considered our feel good chemical.  One of my personal favorites.  I guess some people have favorite shoes, lol, I have my favorite neurotransmitter.  Serotonin helps to negate your overwhelming thoughts (think of a gear shifter or a hamster on a wheel that can’t get off the wheel), helps control your appetite and may assist in getting a more restful nights sleep.  However  my favorite part is that it helps decrease your worries and concerns when something isn’t going right and you can’t seem to switch the gear and move on…  I bet you didn’t know that approximately 95% of your serotonin is made in your gut???  Hmmm, have you looked at all the sugar in that can of mountain dew???

My next favorite is GABA.  GABA is an amino acid that also functions as a neurotransmitter.  It is the one of the few calming neurotransmitters you have as most other neurotransmitters excite the brain.  Consider GABA the relaxing supplement of choice.  With so much on our to do lists, GABA could be exactly what you need when you are overwhelmed and can’t figure out where to start because your mind is too busy focusing on the negative.  GABA + Meditation = A match made in heaven in my eyes.

Next in line is dopamine.  Without this neurotransmitter, no one would be able to focus let alone have the attention to bring a project or task to closure.  Think of the world we live in today and sadly there is way too much going on for anyone human to do in one day, cell phone converstations, meetings, household chores, getting kids from place to place,  texting your friends, social media check-ins and endless follows on twitter to say the least.  Our minds are bombarded daily with multi-tasking that a majority of our day is trying to figure out what we’ve already done.  Our kids today have the inability to stay focused on tasks and some  teachers seem to tell parents that there child has ADHD and should be medicated (with Ritalin I might add which is actually speed)  when in fact, maybe the parent just needs to be educated that sending their child to school with better quality (not more expensive) food may be the solution to them fidgeting throughout the day.  Did you know that protein foods are the precursor to dopamine and that 50% of your dopamine is also made in your gut???

Then we have another fav which is Tyrosine.  Tyrosine is required for dopamine production.  Simply adding a pharmaceutical grade Tyrosine supplement can assist in helping someone’s attention span.

So with this said, if you are looking for answers and are tired of getting the same old answer, “let me write you a prescription for that”, look no further because I’d love to answer your questions.

Could Social Media Be A Culprit For Our Teens When It Comes To Anxious Thoughts

When it comes to anxious thoughts, teens are just as overwhelmed as a lot of adults.  Over-commitments, poor body image, negative self talk and bad diets are just a list what some of the potential causes may be.

Take a look at this blog from Dr. Amen from Amen Clinics.  One of the #1 psychiatrists in the world when it comes to understanding the brain.

This is a must read for any parent that has a teen struggling with anxious thoughts.

How Do You Test For Heavy Metal Toxins

So what are heavy metals?  Heavy metals are things like Aluminum, Mercury, Cadmium, Silver and much more.  Why should I care if I have heavy metals in my body.  Heavy metals are endocrine disruptors (hormone disruptors) and can cause auto immune disorders, cancer, and other developmental disorders.  These heavy metals can derail your thoughts that lead to bad choices, emotional issues and disease.

This PDF will list multiple ways to test for heavy metals.  The best way to test for heavy metals is the OligoScan due to the fact that it uses Spectophotometry and doesn’t require a blood draw.  The best is that you get your results immediately.

Check out this link from Khan Academy to understand why Spectophotometry is so important

Could Glyphosate in Roundup Be The Cause of ADD/Anxiety/Depression Which Leads To Addiction?

So what exactly is Glyphosate in Roundup?

Glyphosate and Roundup is an herbicide for weed control that was introduced back in 1974.  It has been used as an antibiotic and mineral chelator  that immobilizes the soil and steals nutrients from foods.  Corn, oats and soy aren’t what they used to be.  Studies prove that there is less lycopene (bright red carotene and carotenoid pigment and phytochemical found in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables) in a tomato today, prior to the introduction of Glyphosate/Roundup.

This toxic chemical that has been listed as a carcinogenic (cancer causing ingredient) by the World Health Organization and mimics  Glycine., an amino acid in our bodies (Glycine is a neurotransmitter with the ability to be both excitatory and inhibitory, meaning it can function both to stimulate brain and nervous system activity, or to quiet it.) and cross over the blood brain barrier.  Because Glyphosate/Roundup mimics Glycine and crosses over the blood brain barrier, studies show that it can lead to ADD/Anxiety/Depression which can lead to addiction.  Other symptoms it may cause are related to Cancer, Parkinson’s and even Autism.

OligoScan – how do you detect heavy toxins and how do they affect my supplements?

So What Is OligoScan?

Everybody is unique, bio-individuality and our DNA encodes our cells.  Cells are made up of molecules and elements.  OligoScan measures an individual’s elements.  Health Practitioners, like me, now have a tool that shows us what is happening inside the cell (intracellulary).  Interestingly enough, Spectrophotometry  in medicine has been used for decades in Europe.

OligoScan is a Spectrophotometry that takes live measurements of the skin non-invasively and determines the optical density of a substance.  Every substance emits and absorbs specific frequencies.  If a white beam of light is transmitted on the skin, several frequencies are absorbed and others are  not.  You get your results back immediately opposed to blood work that can take up to a week or more to get results back.  It allows you to be proactive against heavy metals and the damage they can do to your mind, body and cells.

Did you know that Aluminum can pass the blood brain barrier?  Studies show that there is evidence that cause the brain to age and actively promotes the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease.  Autopsies from patients with Alzheimer’s disease show extremely high aluminum levels in  the brain.  Interestingly enough, most conventional medicine doctors don’t even test for this.  Did you know that aluminum is found in antacids?  Have you looked at the ingredients in your foods, medicines and cosmetics?

Dr. Mark Hyman mentions in his book, The UltraMind Solution, that mercury is the second most toxic substance know to humans. The only worse is plutonium.  Yikes, I don’t know about you but I’ve been having my old mercury fillings replaced by my holistic biological dentist.

If your interested in doing a scan with OligoScan, let me know.  It’s a small price to pay to know how toxic you are.  It may just be the reason, for anxiety, depression or even worse… addiction.

SPECT-How do you know what medication you may need if you don’t look

Seriously, why don’t doctors mention that there are over 60 medication for emotional issues?  It’s like playing Russian Roulette in medicine.  Sadly I’m posting this blog because I have a young client who was prescribed medication that caused side effects and the sad thing is, the doctor asked very few questions before whipping his prescription pad out.  I don’t understand why doctors don’t ask more questions that pertain to the blood flow which may cause the emotional issue.  I think more education should be required of doctors prior to writing prescriptions that cause suicidal effects.  If Dr. Amen (www.amenclinics.com) gives his information away for free, why aren’t more psychiatrists reaching out to further their education on understanding how blood flow effects someone’s emotions.

Hopefully others can use this document to understand the need to ask their doctor prior to writing a prescription, IS THIS THE RIGHT MEDICATION FOR MY BRAIN?
